Vortex founder and CEO Michael Wang sits on the Board of Directors of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The WPC Board, composed of nine industry-leading companies, sets the strategic and technical direction of the Qi specification. Our membership makes us a key player in shaping and advancing wireless power standards. We gain invaluable insights that allow us to compete more successfully and lead the charge in introducing cutting-edge wireless power transfer products to the market. Our experienced team of exrecutive officers actively shapes and implements the vision of the WPC, ensuring that we don't just wait for standards to be published-we help shape them from the inside.

What Is Qi,
and Why Does It Matter?
Qi (pronounced "chee") is the global wireless charging standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium. Its purpose is simple: to make wireless charging truly universal-across brands, across device across ecosystems.Before Qi, every brand had its own proprietary charging solution in compatible, non-interoperable, fragmented. Qi changed that. Through a rigorous set of testing protocols, Qi certification ensures that products are safe, reliable, and fully interoperable across the entire ecosystem. Today, over 11,000 commercially available products from more than 300 companies carry the Qi mark. From Qi to Qi2 to Qi 25W, the standard continues to evolve-making wireless charging not just possible, but seamless.
